For today’s lesson we will be working in groups to identify and distinguish the views on three of the most influential men in 1850’s America.
I Can Explain John C. Calhoun’s views on the nature of the Union
I Can Explain Henry Clay’s views on the nature of the Union
I Can Explain Daniel Webster’s views on the nature of the Union
I Can Compare and Contrast the views of Clay, Calhoun, and Webster
In groups of 3, each member will be assigned the responsibility of reading a provided informative passage and then determine the views of either Henry Clay, John Calhoun, or Daniel Webster. Each member will then share with the rest of their group members their findings.
As a class we will then discuss the reading and the individual views of each man.
To help understand the different relationships that existed between the 3 politicians, We will complete a 3 circle diagram.
