I Can Create and Compare and Contrast two maps of the country that display the balance of slave and free states according to the Missouri Compromise and the Kansas- Nebraska Act of 1850

The Lesson

For this lesson we will be tracing the growth of America as it went Westward and the many different struggles of slavery that came along with it.

To do this we will be using the following chart to help us track each major component of westward expansion and the effect that it would come to have on slavery.

The class will be broken up unto groups of 3. each group will then be responsible for getting the needed information on one of the 5 different policy’s of expansion that we will be looking at.

Once each group is completed we will then share out our information.

During this lesson we will also be completing two different maps that will help us compare and contrast the major confliction that will arise between the law that was set in place by the Missouri Compromise and the Kansas-Nebraska Act.
